Paramount Studios, which was the last studio to adopt the Blu Ray format, is going to help you switch over your home library. Paramount originally said it was going to go with the a dual Blu Ray / HD DVD format last year, has been able to get out of the dual format agreement and go with just Blu Ray. To aid in the switch Paramount is offering a $10 rebate to specific Blu Ray titles for consumers who previously bought their HD DVD titles.

Variety is reporting that starting September 2, Blu-Ray titles such as Transformers will contain rebate certificates that will financially help HD DVD owners make the format transition. Consumers need to simply mail-in a proof of purchase for both Blu-Ray and HD DVD versions to get the rebate.

Aside from Transformer’s September 2 launch, upcoming Blu-Ray titles include The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration on September 23, Sweeney Todd on October 21 and much more.

With this switch by Paramount many are saying this could help bring the end of the HD DVD format and crown Blu Ray as the new home video champion. What do you think of Paramounts decision?
