Tough choice this week: Pineapple Express vs. Tropic Thunder

If your looking for a funny movie this week you have the benefit of two great comedy movies: “Pineapple Express” or “Tropic Thunder”. Even more so both movies can be considered action comedy movies.

I’ve seen both movies and can say both are hilarious, but in different ways. “Pineapple Express” is similar to previous to the other Judd Apatow gang movies such as “Super Bad” and “Knocked Up” in that the humour is more realistic and it’s more based on the dialogue the way people may talk normally. Although there is the added action scenes in “Pineapple Express” that are pretty good, but it’s the interaction between the characters that make the movie especially Seth Rogen and James Franco.

The new one that opened this week on 13 Aug 08 is “Tropic Thunder”. This one is also hilarious, although it can be considered the most gross and politically incorrect movie of the year. Very gross and politically incorrect, but lots of side splitting laughs. This is mainly a Ben Stiller project behind the camera, his first since “Zoolander”, and he does deliver. It is more the site gags that you would see in “Zoolander” or “Anchorman”. The movie had some controversy before opening, because of some of it’s fake movie websites.

It’s a tough choice this week, but you will have two great choices.
