Anchorman: Ron Burgandy is ‘the’ anchorman in San Diego. Back in the 70′s this was an all male job. When the station decides to put a woman in an anchor position, Ron goes bonkers. It’s all out war at the news station.

The Muse: Brooks plays a Hollywood screenwriter who’s informed that he’s out of touch until he hooks up with a genuine muse Rock, a capricious lady whose performing procedures are unorthodox at best. As with tons of Brooks’ films, the parts are better than the entire, although his gibes at Hollywood are valuable, and some of the cameo appearances which we come away are extremely ludicrous in fact. Cast includes Albert Brooks, Sharon Rock, Andie MacDowell, Jeff Bridges, Mark Feuerstein, Steven Wright, and Bradley Whitford. (96 minutes, 1999)

The Eagle and the Hawk: Contrived action movie set in 1860s Mexico-Texas with O’Keefe and Payne U.S. ordinance enforcers restraining coup to make Maximilian ruler of Mexico; Fleming is fetching love interest. Cast includes John Payne, Rhonda Fleming, Dennis O’Keefe, Thomas Gomez, and Fred Clark. (104 minutes, 1950)

Casino: Sam Rothstein has worked his way through the mob ranks and now runs the casino that his Chicago outfit owns. When mob strong arm Nicky Santoro arrives in town, Sam pleads with him to keep a low profile. Business is good, and his services aren’t really needed. Nicky just can’t help himself, and he starts banging heads. Now Sam’s peace world gets turned completely upside down.

X Men: The Last Stand: For the first time in history, the mutants have a choice. There is a cure for the mutants, so they can choose to give up their powers and become normal people. With dissention among the mutant leaders, a massive war ensues.

Mrs. Doubtfire: Warm-gratifying comedy with earnest overtones in reference to a free soul whose spouse divorces him after fourteen years. He couldn’t bear being split apart from his 3 babies, so he camouflages himself as a dowdy British housekeeper (under an Oscar quality makeup job) and gets himself employed to look after them. Williams is in top form, and director Columbus keeps tale and characters moderately practical in an effort to drive home a humanistic message. Cast includes Robin Williams, Sally Territory, Pierce Brosnan, Harvey Fierstein, Polly Holliday, Lisa Jakob, Matthew Lawrence, and Mara Wilson. (125 minutes, 1993)
