Although the summer is usually the time for big budget action adventure movies or sci-fi superhero movies there are some good choices out there right now if you want to have a good laugh. The summer comedies really got started in April when Judd Apatow who brought us “Knocked up” and the “40 year old virgin” with a bunch of his regulars released “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, this time bringing Jason Seigel (who wrote this) to the front from the hilarious tv show “How I met your mother”.

The story being that devastated Peter takes a Hawaii vacation in order to deal with recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah. Little does he know Sarah’s traveling to the same resort as her ex … and she’s bringing along her new boyfriend. Once again the Apatow gang bring incredibly funny material, that can be gross / explicit (which I like) and bring it into a relaistic believable situation. This movie has a lot of appeal that many different groups, not just guys, can enjoy. By the way you can forget the last Apatow movie “Drillbit Taylor”, which is diffently a rental.

Behind “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” in the box office this past week, but is a diffently a good to go see is “Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay” the sequel to “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle”. The reviews seem to agree that it’s worth seeing and it was one of those movies I couldn’t wait to see. The movie is about the chronic-loving duo as they try to outrun authorities who suspect them of being terrorists when they try to sneak a bong on board their flight to Amsterdam.

Some of the other movies that are out that are comedies, but may not exactly be movies you go to with guys are Ashton Kutcher / Cameron Diaz in “What Happens in Vegas… “ or “Made of Honor” with Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan. Both are more in the romantic comedy category and you can read more on them later.

Let me know your thoughts on any of these movies or what comedy are you looking forward to this summer?
